Treacherous Waters
03:52
|
|||
Treacherous waters, it’s darker than night
I'm hiding my face away from the city lights
My companions have left me, they've all made new acquaintances
They've tied my hands and tossed me to the waters
I do what I have to, to keep my heart from sinking
I've cried "Oh Lord, have mercy on them"
I've learnt the seek the shadows, I prefer the silence
The taste is bitter, I'm standing still
The Belvedere shines brightly, it's up upon the hillside
Everyone is gone and the night time is still
The water isn't moving, the air it is lifeless
My body aches and my senses are gone
Your enemies can't harm you, better look out for those that know you
I'm sinking like a stone but I'm standing still

I've travelled together with cold hearted people
Far from my home by the beautiful sea
I've travelled along through all sorrows and dangers
But how could I ever be single again?
Talk to me softly before you must leave me
Talk to me gently but say what you will
I think of you often, glad memories recalling
How could I ever be single again?
I've all alone beneath cold winters shadow
I've sat near the brook where we used to lay
I'll never get over how suddenly you left me
How could I ever be single again?
Talk to me tenderly as you are leaving
Talk to me carefully but say what you must
I think of you often glad memories recalling
How could ever be single again?
Talk to me softly before you must leave me
Talk to me gently but say what you will
I think of you often, glad memories recalling
How could I ever be single again?

My Love For You Is Gone
03:21
|
|||
As I was a walking last merry May
Where the wind and the waves and the ladies do stray
I heard the voice of my loved one say
(Crying O-oh my love for you is gone.)
She had a voice like an angel and skin like a dove
And the song she was singing was all about lost love
I said that we're married, I promise I gave
(O-oh my love for you did fade.)
I told her I'd have money and other pretty things
I'd forever be faithful until death springs
But that ring on her finger, she tossed it away
(Crying O-oh my love for you is gone)
I bowed my head and I took a great leap
From the cliffs of the mountain to the waters so deep
The rocks in the ocean will be my death bed
(Crying O-oh my love for you is dead)
(O-oh my love for you is dead)

Anathea
03:26
|
|||
Lazlo Feher stole a stallion,
Stole it from the misty mountains
And they chased him and they caught him
And in iron chains they bound him
Word was brought to Anathea
That her brother was in prison.
"Bring me gold and six white horses, I will buy my brothers freedom.”
"Judge, oh, judge, please spare my brother, I will give you gold and silver."
"I don't want your gold and silver,
All I want is your sweet favors.”
"Anathea, oh, my sister,
Are you mad with grief and sorrow? He will rob you of your flower,
And he'll hang me from the gallows.”
Anathea did not heed him,
Straight way to the judge went running. In his golden bed at midnight, There she heard the gallows groaning.
Cursed be that judge so cruel
Thirteen years may he lie bleeding
Thirteen doctors cannot cure him
Thirteen shelves of drugs can’t heel him
"Anathea, Anathea,
Don't go out into the forest.
There among the green pines standing, You will find your brother hanging."

When I Get Home Tonight
04:33
|
|||
I’ve travelled this world over with no money in the bank
Been to the halls of Ypres and seen the statues of Constantine the great
But when I get home tonight I’ll be wishing I was never born
(cause these highs are so high and the lows are way too low)
I’m hoping that a change will come real soon
But that change I’ve been hoping for it never seems to bloom
I’m dying since I left all of you
(these highs are so high and lows are way too low)
I look at other people, so happy and content
But my brain it just wanders, I can’t listen to what’s being said
There ain’t no point to this horrible mess
(these highs are so high and lows are way too low)
When I get home tonight
When I get home tonight, I’ll just lay there in my bed
Turn on the TV and dwell on things were left unsaid
If I could I surely would
Stand on the ground where my father stood.
I just lay here, so restless and forlorn
Hoping that Gabriel will blow his mighty horn
I keep begging them all to never drift away
(These highs are so high and lows they always stay.)
When I get home tonight

Everything Reminds Me
03:08
|
|||
Oh, If I could I’d waltz on back to you
I’d make my home in Carolina
Don’t mourn for me with sorrow too intense
I’ll be back with money for us to spend
It’s too bright in here to get myself together
All alone I’m pining for you babe
Oh, to spend a pleasant evening with my love
Everything reminds me of you
All this thinking about you is making my heart break
Can’t stand another day without you
The air is thick and the breeze it gives me chills
Just wanna lose myself in her
I’ve got the fever for you, honey
I can’t seem to get you off of my mind
I’m a fool for your love
And everything reminds me of you

In The Meadow
03:48
|
|||
I arose, early in the morning
Just as the dew was forming
She was there, the day we shared In the meadow
The day is bright, the season it is changing
My thoughts are rearranging
The forest springs and the larks they sing In the meadow
The nights are long and the mornings they come early
The bindweeds they are curling
The flowers bloom and the summer looms
In the meadows
By and by, her nature so enticed me
She knew me so precisely
We prepared a dwelling there
In the meadow

Yarrow
04:48
|
|||
I woke up the birds were singing
My love I wished to see
There she was on the edge of the bed
She was waiting there for me
The light shone through my window It was gleaming through her blouse
She laid down beside me
We spent the day entranced
(Yarrow, yarrow, yarrow she said to me
I am a wounded man, yarrow I'll take from thee)
The love we shared that morning I long for it today
But I'm in Tuscaloosa
I'm a million miles away
The evening's so hot and it’s cloudy
It's thick with tomorrow's rain
I'm tired of these fools that surround me
They're just looking for something to gain
(Yarrow, yarrow, yarrow she said to me
I am a wounded man, yarrow I'll take from thee)
I looked there behind me
To see what I could see
There she was, my beloved
She was coming after me
For the flowers they'll all wither
And the tall pines they will fall
If ever I lose my love
It'll be my downfall
(Yarrow, yarrow, yarrow she said to me
I am a wounded man, yarrow I'll take from thee)
